I had seen the Ganga in many places, but Gangotri made her feel different.
I had seen the Ganga in many places, but Gangotri made her feel different.
Here, the river felt young, sharp and full of mountain energy. I stood near the water and listened to its sound. It did not feel like a background noise. It felt like the main voice of the place.
The air was cold, the temple bells were ringing, and people moved with a kind of quiet respect. I did not feel like speaking much. Some places naturally lower your voice.
Gangotri reminded me that rivers also have beginnings, moods and memories. I had come to see a sacred place, but I left with a deeper respect for the journey of water itself.
